A Little Party

Party Time!

A teeny, tiny, little party broke out in my studio a few nights ago. These little ladies (ahem!) took over my work table and made their own party hats. I could not believe my eyes!

Don't be fooled by those itsy-bitsy innocent looks. I can't turn my back on these gals for a moment! They keep getting into the paint.

Since they're only an inch tall head to toe, it has become tricky to locate them in the mess on my table. They continue to sneak off and explore remote parts of the mess. However, one did return bearing some glitter I had been looking for so I suppose they can stay if they make their keep.

But don't think I don't have my eye on you, Little Miss Green Dress on the left. You look like proper trouble.

Borrow My Pen?

A few weeks ago Erik and I were running errands and shopping down around our old haunt neighborhood of Monroe Avenue and Oxford Square. One of my all time favorite shops has been there for ages. It's called Archimage. They sell all sorts of silly things, fun things, Asian pottery, drums, incense, jewelry, wood knickknacks, little Buddhas, stationery, and clothing. Much of my money could happily be spent here and has been over the last 20 years.

Erik found these hilarious pens. The package says “Borrow My Pen?”. The pens are designed to be handed out to those annoying coworkers, bosses, friends, and parole officers who are always asking to borrow your pen. Now you can shame them into shape. These pens have hilarious sayings for fake businesses on them. For example, one says:

Springfield Sexual Addiction Center
From PERV to PERFECT in as little as 10 days
Curbing your enthusiasm since 1998
www.cold-shower.com

Another reads:

Stuffed With Love Taxidermy
No Pet Too Small – Give Us A Call
(ask about our goldfish and turtle discount)
www.fluffy4ever.com

So feel free to lend these pens out and watch your friends faces when they read them! No one will be asking to borrow your pen anymore!

I Don’t Want Wings with My Hairdo

My sister just called me. She had a hilarious story to share and I thought you might get a kick out of it.

She woke up last night with something nestling around in her hair. It was dark. She didn’t have her glasses on. She’s really blind at night. So all she could see was a small black form. Then, when she sat up and looked back at her pillow, it was gone! She immediately jumped up and started screaming to her hubby, Blaine, that something was in the bed! He heard wings flapping. My sister, Valerie, didn’t hear that part because she was busy screaming. So they had a BAT loose in their bedroom! Ack! Scream! A bat!!!

It flew out of the bedroom into the hallway when Blaine whacked it with something. It lay stunned on the stairs. Or playing dead. And she had the where with all to snap pictures!

They whispered madly to each other, ”What do we do?! What do we do?!” while trying not to wake the kids. Valerie got a garbage can and clapped it over the bat.

They somehow managed to get it into a garbage bag from there. But it woke up during this process and was flitting wildly around in the bag. Just as Blaine was about the leave the house to let it go it got loose from the bag and went into the basement. So there they are in the dead of night hunting a bat in a huge dark basement. Insert more screaming!

They thought it got trapped up in the drop ceiling, but Blaine heard it move around in a box. He snapped the box closed and finally made it outside with the bat. As he let it go another bat came swooping down from the sky and the two bats flew off together.

They still have no idea how it got into the house. They checked the attic for holes but found nothing.

I cannot stop laughing every time I think of my sister standing in bed screaming! Oh, it’s made me cry twice! I really needed a good laugh today. I feel bad for laughing about this, but c’mon! She’s a hairdresser and she had a bat in her hair!!! Eeeekgad!!

What makes this a little funnier is that my hunny, Erik, caught a bat in a hallway at work recently. Feel free to commence with the Batman jokes for the men in my life!

Pumpkin Eater

Happy Halloween!!

My sister took this picture a couple of years ago. She finally discovered what was eating her pumpkins! All week a little pile of chewed pumpkin kept growing until finally this little bugger could get inside the pumpkin. I'm sure he enjoyed quite the meal!

This picture makes me wet my pants laughing every time I see it. I guess I'm simple that way. But what a shot! How lucky was she to catch the bandit in the act?!

I hope you and yours have a very safe and happy Halloween. I will be hanging out with my two little nieces tonight. Then we have the big Picture the Impossible Gala to attend once the kids go to bed. Ooh! I'll take a picture for you of the masquerade mask I created and show you next week!

Nature At It's Finest

My friend Joolie who recently came to visit (and I have unkindly not filled you in on that very fun visit yet because I've been so busy) is the funniest person I know. Case in point is the following video narrated by the wildlife expert/artist Eric, who also happens to be her hubby. I will say no more and just let you enjoy. (But I will add that I want to go live with them because this kind of fun stuff happens all the time in their house.)

This video was inspired by this video.

I seem to be on some sort of funny video sharing trip. Hope you don't fire me. More news from the actual studio soon! I swear promise!
